Through immersive workshops and dynamic cultural showcases,
Internationalization Week 2024 at Saint Louis University was a vibrant celebration of
diversity and cross-cultural exchange that embodied the theme of "Celebrating Diversity,
Connecting Cultures." The week-long event gave students, faculty, and staff a platform to
engage in meaningful dialogue, share their unique heritage, and build connections that
went beyond borders. Internationalization Week, which featured a wide range of events
and activities served as a reminder of the university's dedication to developing inclusive
communities where all voices are respected and cherished as well as encouraging
global citizenship.
Dr. Maria Teresa G. Tuason, a Professor, Clinical Director, and Licensed
Psychologist discusses first and provides an informative session on trauma-informed
techniques for alleviating stress in daily life. With deep expertise in Clinical Psychology,
Dr. Tuason highlights the significance of comprehending stresses and triggers and
promotes considerate and knowledgeable approaches to dealing with them. According to
her, "By fostering an environment of understanding and support, we empower individuals
to reclaim agency over their emotional well-being and embark on a journey of healing and
self-discovery."
The second speaker, Michael Seno Rahardanto, a Master of Arts in Clinical
Psychology, explores the complex topic of psychological profile analysis of people who
are possessed by spirits. Drawing on his Clinical Psychology experience, Rahardanto
clarifies this phenomenon's complex nature and emphasizes the need to comprehend the
psychological nuances that underlie these experiences, "Through a nuanced examination
of psychological profiles, we can unravel the complexities of spirit possessions, offering
insights that pave the way for compassionate and effective interventions."
As Internationalization Week 2024 ends, it leaves a lasting mark on participants,
exemplifying the essence of "Celebrating Diversity, Connecting Cultures". Dr. Maria
Teresa G. Tuason and Michael Seno Rahardanto's insightful talks provide significant
insights into the challenges of navigating cultural diversity and psychological well-being.
From Dr. Tuason's focus on trauma-informed approaches to everyday stress relief to
Rahardanto's investigation of psychological traits underlying spirit possessions,
participants leave with a heightened comprehension of the human condition and a
revitalized resolve to promote empathy, understanding, and inclusivity in their
communities. Internationalization Week 2024 is an essential reminder of the developing
power of communication, empathy, and cross-cultural interchange in creating a more
harmonious and interdependent society
