Students from Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC) participated in the 1st session of the With the World Organization (WTW), as part of the Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) program. The COIL program, an innovative approach to global education, integrates international perspectives into the curriculum through online collaboration and exchange. The session held on April 18, 2024, via Zoom meeting, was hosted by Ms. Yuka, a staff member from WTW. Ms. Yuka warmly welcomed the 140 students from various countries across Southeast Asia, including the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia, as well as representatives from CMC. The goal of the COIL-supported WTW program, led by Ms. Yuka, was to bridge cultural divides through meaningful online interaction and dialogue. During the session, facilitated by Ms. Yuka, students explore topics such as favorite snacks and hobbies. Instead, they engaged in discussions about cultural traditions, educational systems, and future plans. This open dialogue provided by Ms. Yuka and COIL offered participants a deeper understanding of each other's backgrounds, fostering connections and breaking down stereotypes. The success of the COIL-supported WTW session, under the guidance of Ms. Yuka, lies in its ability to create a safe and inclusive space for students to explore cultural differences. By connecting with peers from diverse backgrounds, CMC students gained valuable insights into different cultures, enhancing their global perspective and intercultural competence. CMC's participation in the COIL-supported WTW program, with Ms. Yuka as the host, aligns with the college's mission to prepare well-rounded professionals for the global maritime industry. By emphasizing cultural understanding and appreciation, the program equips students with essential skills for navigating an increasingly interconnected world. #GlobalDialogue #CulturalExchange #COILConnections #InterconnectedWorld Onward CMC!
