Research-driven
solutions to contemporary human resource challenges in educational institutions
took center stage as the Graduate School of Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC)
conducted the Graduate Research-Based Case Colloquium on Human Resource
Management in Educational Institutions on May 31, 2026.
The event showcased
the research competence, analytical skills, and leadership potential of
graduate students while reinforcing the institution’s commitment to
evidence-based educational management.
Graduate students
enrolled in MA 347 – Human and Material Resource Management presented
comprehensive case analyses that examined pressing human resource concerns
within educational organizations. Drawing from established HRM theories,
leadership frameworks, and current research, the presenters offered practical
recommendations designed to improve institutional effectiveness and
organizational performance.
The presentations
addressed a wide range of issues, including workforce planning, recruitment and
selection, employee development, performance evaluation, personnel engagement,
and organizational leadership. Participants demonstrated their ability to connect
theory with practice, providing research-informed perspectives on challenges
commonly encountered in schools and learning institutions.
A enriching exchange
of ideas characterized the colloquium. Faculty members and panelists engaged
presenters in scholarly discussions that encouraged critical reflection, deeper
inquiry, and the refinement of proposed solutions. The collaborative atmosphere
enriched the learning experience and strengthened participants’ understanding
of real-world educational management concerns.
Beyond fulfilling an
academic requirement, the colloquium served as a platform for intellectual
engagement and professional development. Students enhanced their competencies
in research, communication, analytical thinking, and strategic leadership while
gaining confidence in presenting and defending scholarly work before academic
experts.
According to Dr. Mark
Gennesis B. Dela Cerna, professor of MA 347, the activity highlighted the
essential role of research in preparing educational leaders to address complex
organizational issues. "Educational leaders are expected to make decisions
that influence people, organizations, and learning outcomes. Research allows us
to move beyond assumptions and respond to challenges with informed, practical,
and sustainable solutions.
Through activities
such as this colloquium, our graduate students develop the mindset and
competencies needed to lead with purpose, integrity, and evidence-based
judgment," Dr. Dela Cerna shared.
The case
presentations further emphasized the importance of cultivating workplace
cultures that promote collaboration, professional growth, accountability, and
organizational excellence.
Insights generated
throughout the colloquium underscored the strategic role of human resource
management in strengthening educational institutions and supporting quality
learning environments.
CMC Graduate School
continues to foster a culture of inquiry, innovation, and scholarly engagement
through academic initiatives that encourage research utilization and
evidence-based practice. Such opportunities prepare graduate students to become
transformative leaders capable of developing responsive solutions to the
evolving needs of schools, organizations, and communities.
The successful
conduct of the Graduate Research-Based Case Colloquium reflects CMC’s enduring
mission of developing competent, innovative, and socially responsive
professionals whose leadership, expertise, and research contribute meaningfully
to educational advancement and nation-building. As participants translate
research into practice, they carry forward the responsibility of shaping
stronger institutions, empowering people, and creating lasting impact within
the communities they serve.
This initiative
advances Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) through the
promotion of advanced learning, research excellence, and leadership
development. It also supports Sustainable Development Goal 8 (Decent Work and
Economic Growth) through the cultivation of effective human resource management
practices that enhance organizational performance, professional development,
and institutional sustainability.
