Central
Mindanao Colleges proudly participated in the Davao Global Halal Academic Forum
2025, a major
feature of the 10th Philippine Halal Trade and Tourism Expo (PHTTE) held at the
SMX Convention Center, SM Lanang, Davao City. This international event served
as a vital platform for advancing discussions on halal innovation, ethics, and
sustainability among educators, students, industry leaders, and policymakers
from the Philippines and abroad.
Organized in
conjunction with Duaw Davao (Visit Davao), one of the city’s flagship events,
the expo showcased halal-certified and halal-friendly products and services
across various sectors, including food, cosmetics, medicine, tourism, and
technology. Activities included trade exhibits, business networking, halal
cooking demonstrations, a modest fashion show, free medical services, and
academic engagements.
The CMC
delegation—composed of students and a faculty member—actively participated in
the academic forum, representing the institution in roundtable discussions,
lectures, and youth-led presentations. These sessions tackled critical themes
such as halal accreditation through science and technology, youth leadership,
cultural preservation, and responsible innovation.
The event
strongly aligned with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
(SDGs), particularly:
• SDG 4: Quality Education – Promoting
inclusive learning through knowledge exchange
• SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and
Infrastructure – Supporting advancements in halal-related technologies
• SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and
Production – Encouraging ethical and sustainable practices
• SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals –
Enhancing collaboration across countries and sectors
For Central
Mindanao Colleges, this engagement provided meaningful exposure to global best
practices in halal systems and highlighted the role of academic institutions in
fostering ethical development and intercultural understanding.
The
Consulate-General of Malaysia in Davao, a proud collaborator in the forum,
emphasized the importance of international partnerships in elevating global
halal standards. With ASEAN emerging as a key hub for halal trade and
innovation, the forum affirmed the region’s shared commitment to harmonizing
tradition with progress and enterprise with ethical leadership.
By bringing
together changemakers, the forum set out to:
• Drive innovation through collaborative halal
research and education
• Empower institutions to implement
value-based and culturally grounded programs
• Inspire youth to promote sustainability,
equity, and social responsibility in their communities
The Davao Global
Halal Academic Forum 2025 demonstrated how academic and industry cooperation
can shape a future where inclusive growth and ethical leadership go hand in
hand.
