Central Mindanao
Colleges (CMC), through its Center for International Affairs and Linkages
(CIAL), proudly celebrates the participation of its student leaders in the
Emerging Young Leaders Program (EYLP): YSEALI Learns MOOC Camp on Developing,
Mentoring, and Supporting Youth Leadership, held on July 18–19, 2025 in Davao
City.
Out of 189
applicants, only 27 youth leaders from the Davao Region and across Mindanao
were selected as fellows for this prestigious initiative. Among them is
Cristoper Dinopol Fernando, President of CMC Passionate Individuals for
Responsive & Strategic Internationalization towards Sustainable Development
in Mindanao (PRISM), along with other passionate student leaders from CMC,
whose participation was made possible through the endorsement and support of
CIAL.
The two-day
program brought together U.S. university professors, development professionals,
and prominent YSEALI and United States Government (USG) alumni to guide fellows
through sessions on civic leadership, community-based initiatives, and
sustainable development. The camp served as a platform to equip participants
with strategies to address local challenges, amplify youth voices, and inspire
transformative action within their communities.
Organized by the
U.S. Embassy in the Philippines, U.S. Mission to ASEAN (USASEAN), American
Spaces Philippines, American Corner Davao – Ateneo de Davao University, YSEALI
Philippines, YSEALI Davao Hub, United States Government Alumni Association –
Davao, and Ateneo de Davao University, the MOOC Camp is part of the broader
YSEALI Learns initiative aimed at strengthening leadership capacity among
emerging changemakers in Southeast Asia.
CMC’s presence in
this program highlights its firm
commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 3 – Good Health and
Well-being, SDG 4 – Quality Education, SDG 5 – Gender Equality, SDG 10 –
Reduced Inequalities, SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, and SDG
17 – Partnerships for the Goals), while reinforcing its role in shaping
globally minded and socially responsible leaders.
As the fellows
return to their home communities, they carry with them a renewed sense of
purpose, empowered to lead with integrity, inclusivity, and innovation.
